Activities & Trips
Duke of Edinburgh
13 Regency High School students worked from September 2016 through to July 2017 towards their Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award. They learnt a range of new skills, participated in volunteering and physical activities and took part in two expeditions. In June, the students successfully completed their final expedition where they cooked their own meals on camping stoves, put up their own tents, slept for one night and walked for six hours on two consecutive days. The students had to carry all their camping equipment and navigate using OS maps! After presenting an assembly to the rest of the school, the students completed their Bronze Award. Well done to everyone and a big thankyou to the staff who also had to camp overnight!
Artists in Residency
On the 3rd and 4th of May 2017 our pupils took part in two exciting days of art with two different professional artists. On the Wednesday seven different classes worked collaboratively to make a huge Koi Carp in recognition of Children’s Day which is celebrated in Japan, every year, on the 5th of May. The following day five different classes each made a Koi Carp from clay. There was lots of fun, hard work, paint and glitter. We enjoyed working with two professional Artists, Jon from Eastnor Pottery and Sarah from Spare Room Arts. Our large Koi Carp was then displayed in Worcester Cathedral as part of Worcestershire Voices and Visions exhibition.
Malvern Spring Show
In Team Enterprise students run the school Tuck Shop. The students found out what items pupils wanted by using a questionnaire and then purchased items locally. Students used maths skills by working out cost and profit for individual items, money handling skills and marketing of the products using posters (including symbols). Students ensured they reached their target market and made a profit. Team Enterprise has also supported various charities including Children in Need, WARs (Worcester Animal Rescue Shelter) and Place2Be (children’s mental health charity). All profits were donated after students ran the Tuck Shop at the Halloween disco and the Christmas Fayre.
